The Vega is simply the best mobile scanning solution actually on the market for that price in my opinion. I have been testing it in HD mode and fast mode indoor and outdoor and its tracking is super stable, scanning is fast and easy, delivering accurate 3D scans and beautiful textures. So much fun! I can absolutely recommend this device.

Pretty ok but has issues

I'm not entirely happy with the purchase process(barely helpful pre-sales support, price is without VAT, preorder customers pay extra for shipping, no receipt for the preorder coupon, etc...) but my first impressions of the product weren't too bad.

The battery does not last nearly as long as the advertised 2 hours. The scanner feature seems to be active all the time when screen is on, so that probably uses battery a lot. Also I noticed that it runs out of battery very fast even when the screen is turned off. So if you want to take a 30min break, you more or less have to turn the device off unless you have the charger nearby.

Judging from the top bar and pull-down quick access menu I think the device seems to run on some modified version Android. That itself isn't really bad or good in my book but I found it amusing that I could tell right away.

The scanner "app" itself is pretty simple and polished. It has a few quirks and some confusing things UI/UX-wise but all in all not too bad, especially if Einstar continues work on it.

Scanning quality seems pretty good at least. The only real problem I had was the scanning distance. I was scanning my project car's engine bay and I was constantly getting warnings about being too close or too far.

It would've also been beneficial to have an integrated projector that lights up the device's field of view so I'd know what I'm actually pointing at.

For the performance and issues I've encountered, I feel the reduced preorder price I paid was still a little on the high side but I'm keeping the scanner. Einstar has done at least the bare minimum to make a decent product, but I'm afraid they need to do more to earn any brand loyalty.

I'd cautiously recommend the scanner if you know what you're getting into. For <2000€ there are a lot of options available.

It's like the Einstar. But portable. And better.

I really like this device. It feels well made, other "portable scanners" feel like a toy next to the Vega. Scans come out nice and tracking is better than Einstar. Software has some quirks but I trust it will get better over time, Shining3D has a proven track record of supporting their products.
